Heidi Klum was born in Bergisch Gladbach Germany on June 1st, 1973. Erna is her mother. She was a stylist. Gunther Kum worked as an executive for a cosmetics business. Heidi's father was the former director of production at the 4711 fragrance company. Heidi was raised in Bergisch Gladbach which is a town of 100,000 only 6 miles away from Cologne. Former model of German descent, Heidi Klum is now an actor and television host. A girlfriend (Karin) advised the 18-year-old student to enter a German television talent show dubbed Model 92. The German women's magazine Petra supported the show, which was hosted by Thomas Gottschalk as part of his late-night talkshow. Klum was up against over 25000 contestants from Germany and Europe to become one of three semifinalists. She won the $300,000 top modeling prize in April 1992.
