Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American businesswoman for more than twenty years. She is the current president as well as the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is an California born and raised in a well-off family. Jerry Buss' father was an investor in real estate and was later a part owner of the Lakers as well as several other companies in the field of sports. After her parents split up in 1972, she was convinced that they had abandoned her. When she was 19 she started working in the family business. In the following years, she created the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. Before becoming vice president for the Lakers She was also the president of Great Western Forum. Her father passed away in 2013, and his control over control for the Lakers was inherited by Buss as well as her siblings through a family trust with each sibling having an equal vote. Buss was elected in 2013 to take charge of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a part-owner of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
